As the curtains part, I hear my name announced. The bright spotlight suddenly illuminates the massive stage. I flow through my routine, performing one move after another under the gaze of hundreds of people. Rather than being nervous, I feel comfortable on stage. After the show my face glows when the winners are announced.
Winning the International Brotherhood of Magicians Youth Stage Competition in Reno, Nevada this year was amazing. I was so excited and honored to be selected to perform in the gold medal finalist show in front of many of the best magicians from around the world. It was gratifying being rewarded for all the countless hours I spent creating and practicing my routine.
Besides receiving a monetary prize and a beautiful trophy from IBM, Fantasma Magic rewarded me with a gorgeous crystal trophy designed by Victor Trabucco and a magnificent prize package, which included a full expenses paid trip for me and my chaperon to New York. This was the third year Fantasma offered a prize package to the winner of the youth stage contest and I was the first female to receive this award. Roger Dreyer, the founder and CEO of Fantasma Magic, went above and beyond all my expectations to provide a priceless once in a lifetime experience. Fantasma magic is a wonderful company that provided me with an unforgettable magical journey. I never would have had the opportunity to receive such a great prize package if I did not enter the IBM competition.
Fantasma Magic is a company that has created magic products since 2002 and is the first magic corporation to be endorsed by IBM. They provide professional quality creative merchandise at an affordable price. I was treated to many of these products, and I can testify that they are truly magnificent props that create strong effects. They have tricks that appeal to magicians at all levels, from beginners to professionals. Fantasma also specializes in collector items with a magical theme, such as exquisite hand painted orbs, perfume bottles, and automatons. When I visited the headquarters of Fantasma Magic I was delighted to be given a hand painted perfume bottle (actually painted on the inside by a Chinese artist) that depicts a Blackstone SR poster. There were lots of customized surprises and gifts during my trip.
At the Fantasma headquarters, I was able to see all of their products and hangout with the whole Fantasma team. Angelo Carbone designed many of their props and had a lot of creative ideas for how to create some effects I had been thinking about. Roger Dreyer was a perfect host and arranged exciting plans for my father and I to do everyday to make sure we had the best possible time.
Upon arriving in New York, I was greeted at the elegant Carlton Hotel on Madison Ave. with an autographed picture from David Copperfield and tons of great Fantasma magic. My father and I met Roger Dreyer, who whisked us away to perform in my off Broadway debut in Simon Lovell's show "My Strange and Unusual Hobbies." Simon was an extremely generous, hilarious man who taught me that you must make the audience fall in love with you first, and perform tricks second. His show was truly original and inspiring to watch. The audience was very appreciative, and I was simply thrilled to perform in an off Broadway show!
